Belgian Tervuren

A variety of the Belgian Shepherd, the Belgian Tervuren is a medium-sized herding dog. Highly energetic and intelligent, the Tervuren requires a job, or they will become hyperactive and destructive. Tervurens can excel at agility, obedience, herding, flyball, tracking or protection work, as well as Search and Rescue. The Belgian Tervuren has a thick double coat, which is usually mahogany with varying degrees of black overlay, including a black mask. White on the chest and white tips of toes is allowed. Weighing 40-65lbs, the Belgian Tervuren stands 22-24" at the shoulder. As a whole, the breed is fairly healthy. However, the Tervuren is suceptible to hip dysplasia, epilepsy, gastric problems including bloat and torsions, eye and skin problems. [img]
