Doberman Pinscher

A medium-large breed of dog, the Doberman Pinscher originated in Germany. Originally intended as a guard dog, the Doberman Pinscher should have a proud, watchful, determined and obedient temperament. Known to be energetic, watchful, fearless and obedient, the breed is a desirable house dog. While more likely to show aggression towards strangers and other dogs than many breeds, the Doberman Pinscher is very unlikely to show aggressive behaviour towards its owner. The Doberman Pinscher comes in four colour varieties, all having tan/rust points; black, red, blue and isabella (fawn). With an average lifespan of 10-11 years, the Doberman Pinscher suffers from a variety of health problems; including dilated cardiomyopathy, cervical vertebral instability, von Willebrand's disease, prostatic disease, hypothyroidism, hip dysplasia and canine compulsive disorder.
