A breed of companion dog, the Pug originated in China. The breed has a smooth and glossy coat that is fawn, apricot fawn, silver fawn, or black in colour. Strong-willed but rarely aggressive, the Pug is well suited as a family dog with children. Tending to have a lazy nature, the breed enjoys their naps. Often called "shadows", the breed likes to follow their owners and stay close, craving attention and affection. With an average lifespan of 11 years, the Pug is prone to a number of health problems, involving their eyes and breathing. Most severely, the breed is prone to Necrotizing Meningoencephalitis and hemivertebrae.
